1st Place Team G 4X1600m Relay at S.I. F/S Invite

Inside the S.I. F/S Invitational Kicking Off the Aragon 2017Track and Field Season


.... Most events on the day were relays with a few exceptions. The first team on the track was the Girls 4x 1600m relay. Each girl ran a 1600m (4 laps on the track) before handing the baton to next one up. The lead-off runner was So. Emma Madgic who opened a commanding lead by running a 5:30 1600m. She hand off to Freshman Sydney Hou who ran a 6:30 keeping the comfortable lead. Next to take the baton was fellow frosh Sarah McGown who also turned in a 6:47 leg as she to maintain a nice lead to for the team. Closing the race was So. Beata Gold finished up in a sub 6:00 minute leg of 5:47 helping the team take the top spot in the relay. All 4 girls are now sporting 1st place medals!



Next up came the boys 4x1600m and they too were looking for a good start to their season. Leading off for the boys was So. Alex Ma. He opened with a nice 5:16 for the team. Alex hand off to So. Jake Cardinale  who covered the distance in running a solid 5:54 before giving up the baton to Frosh Qwen Dodge, fresh off his basketball season, running a nice 5:29 leg. Owen passed to So. Noah Strause who turned in a very quick 5:00 flat leg. Noah finish was a neck and neck duel with a Mills runner. He came in ahead of the Mills runner by less than 1 second! This earned the team 3rd place overall. Aragon also had an incomplete team which was allowed to run with just 2 members at the track. Freshmen Alex Adleman and Gama Santacruz Huerta ran their 1600m in good times of 6:24 and 6:47 respectively.



Next on the track were Girls and Boys Sprint Hurdles. As of this writing results have not been received will update when received. Following the hurdle races was a traditional relay run at all track meets the 4x 100m. The Aragon Girls team finished in 5th place with a time of 58.95. Team member were running in order: Mikayla Kaliski, Gianna Garcia, Erin Calter and anchoring Claire Murphy. Then came the boys 4x100 team who blazed to 1st place medals. Leading off for the Boys team Danny Williams then Nick Wilcox and Mitchell Yee and anchoring Francisco Sanchez Borrero!



Next race for Aragon was the 300m Hurdle race and taking 1st in this race was Aragon athlete Nathan Chu. Great way to start his Aragon track career.



Aragon had teams in the Sprint Medley( 100,100, 200, 400). The Girls were on the track first and leading off for the Dons was Sophie Lyons. She was followed by in order Alexa Alvarez, Erin Calter and Mikayla Kaliski. The Boys then had their turn and running in order were: Danny Williams, Nick Wilcox, Mitchell Yee and closing Francisco Sanchez Borreo



Aragon’s final relays on the day were the Girls/Boys Distance relays (1200m, 400m, 800m,1600m). The same 4 girls who ran in the 1600m came back for this one. This race Beata opened the first 3 lap leg with a solid 4:18 run. Emma took the baton for 65 seconds as you took her 1 lap before handing off to Sarah who ran the 800 leg in 2:59. When she finished teammate Sydney had the please of running a 4 lap leg again. Sydney closed out the race with another solid time of 6:37. This time giving the ladies a 2nd place finish just behind PAL foe Mills.



 



Up for Aragon’s final tour of the track on the day were the team of Qwen, Danny Williams, Alex Ma and Noah. Plus again Alex A. and Gama without 2 other members. They ran a 1200m and 400m respectively. The full team ran all 4 legs of the DMR. In this one Owen opened with a 3:55 1200m, Danny ran 61 seconds for the 400m. Next up Alex Ma in the 800 leg running 2:16 and closing out the race with another 1600m race was Naoh in a time of 5:02. With the DMR concluded the trrack events. The Dons did have one athlete compete in the Shot Put. Freshman Raphael Antiporda had a solid 34'7''  Put of the 10 pound shot! . This has him in 4th place on the all time frosh list and this with the season just under way. With all events concluded Aragon called it a day ….a very successful day to start the 2017 season.
